The fear of God

Belief, faith and love is just words and no substitute for the fear of God which is to respect and honour God in Christ Jesus above all else in this life

THE FEAR OF GOD

We frequently find teachings on the Web that deny the importance of the fear of God to New Testament believers.  These socalled teachers only want to preach God’s love, love, love and forgiveness. Any believer who still does not understand the love and forgiveness of God by this time is surely not born again by the Spirit of the living God, or the preacher is confused as to what the fear of God means and is therefore a FALSE TEACHER the Bible warns us against.  In the New Testament, the love of God NEVER condones sin or any unrighteousness.

So let me state this ONE FACT of God: GOD NEVER CHANGES.  Sin and unrighteousness WAS WRONG in the Old Testament and IS STILL WRONG in the New Testament.  So when I quote an Old Testament scripture, the message is just as valid and applicable in the New Testament!

That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD,

that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God FOR EVER.

(Jos 4:24)

The fear of God, and the knowledge of God, goes hand in hand.  If you do not have the fear of God in you, you also have no knowledge of God!

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:

but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

(Prov 1:7)

The Internet can be a blessing or a curse.  Many sincere believers seek knowledge of God on the Internet, in bookshops, in churches, in home-cells and they even buy different translations of the Bible. But, they neglect to seek the knowledge from God Himself through prayer and meditation on scripture, and then to OBEY it.

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

(Prov 2:3-5)

And unto man he said,

Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;

and to depart from evil is understanding.

(Job 28:28)

BUT someone may still say, “But all these scriptures are Old Testament, and I am a NEW Testament believer and I believe in Jesus!”” Let me share with you a secret.  JESUS IS GOD.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding,

that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ.

This (JESUS) is the true God, and eternal life.

(1 Joh 5:20)

Let me put the final nail in these false teachers’ coffins!  If you want to be safe and sure that you will be allowed to enter heaven, stop your fear of man, and start to fear (respect) God!  Read the following scriptures carefully and conform to them and the God of peace will be with you ALWAYS:

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

(Prov 29:25)

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:

Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

(Ecc 12:13 & 14)

Here are a few New Testament scriptures that affirm what I have written and that I have spoken to you in truth.  Anyone who opposes the fear of God is a false teacher and antichrist.

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers;

but in singleness of heart, fearing God:  (Col 3:22)

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,

let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

(2Co 7:1)

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

(Eph 5:21)

And a voice came out of the throne, saying,

Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

(Rev 19:5)
