God told the Jews that He would save them out of slavery in Egypt and take them to the Promised Land, Canaan. Once they passed through the Red Sea they discovered that they were in the Wilderness of Sin under the law of God and not in the Promised Land.
The same is true of the Sinner who is saved from sin when he believes and accepts Jesus as Lord. Once he is delivered from sin he discovers that he is in a wilderness of sins under the law of the Spirit and not perfect as he had thought he would be.
